About Marbling

Marbling is a method that dates back centuries, in which each side of each book is dipped by hand, one at a time, into a tray of marbled ink—in this case, by a master artisan in Germany. The result is a beautiful one-of-a-kind book.

About The Conflict Beautiful

The Conflict of the Ages by Ellen Gould White is a five-volume narrative Bible commentary spanning the history of the world from creation to future restoration. Originally written and published around the turn of the 20th century, The Conflict of the Ages reveals Christ’s character of love throughout the biblical story.

Editorial Updates

The Conflict Beautiful is one in a long series of republished editions of the Conflict of the Ages series, and the first to use NKJV throughout all five books.

In addition to the NKJV integration, we updated a few words that no longer held the same initial meaning as they did when Ellen White first penned them over 100 years ago. A common example of this, is the use of the word “intercourse” which we’ve updated to “interaction”—a word that much more clearly represents the original intent.

This critical work was shepherded by Tim Lale who has been a book editor for Pacific Press, a magazine editor at Review and Herald, and has published several Adventist books. For The Conflict Beautiful, he established the editorial philosophy of preserving Ellen White’s words and meaning while blending in Bible quotations from the New King James Version. He also provided oversight and mentoring to ten other seasoned editors involved in the project.

If you would like to learn more about the philosophy or content changes within this edition, please click here. Toward the bottom of that page you will also find a detailed breakdown of the word changes made on each page of each book.
